Jamaica or Bust!
The single most wonderful thing about our life on the road is this...if we don't like where we are, we pick up and move. That simple.
We had planned on hunkering down for the entire winter in San Antonio, heading back around mid-March. It only took a couple weeks to figure out we needed to move on.
We did fly to Spokane for the holidays and spent two weeks visiting friends and family. We stayed with Shelby for a week, through Christmas day. (played her new XBOX Kinect system daily - thanks mom and dad) Then moved to my brothers apartment for a few days as he was in Palm Springs and generously donated his pad to us : )
We celebrated New Years Eve with friends in Davenport and stayed the night before finishing up at a hotel in Spokane before heading home. Talk about feeling a little displaced! : )
We flew back to San Antonio, and two days later moved to Jamaica Beach, Texas. Located in Galveston and the Gulf of Mexico.
We are so glad we moved. Our daily walks are now on the beach, which is fantastic. I love the water, and the ocean and really feel at home here. We can walk for miles in either direction. This is obviously the off-season, as the tourists have all gone home. Outside of a dozen or so wandering souls, it's very quiet.
The big upcoming event here is the Annual Mardi Gras Festival in February. Thousands flock to the island for this two week party which features; 5 masked balls, 24 parades, 19 balcony parties and 26 concerts. We plan on taking in as much as we can, sounds like a blast!
We'll take plenty of pics and continue to keep you up to date on all the happenings. How lucky I am to have such a wonderful partner and soulmate sharing this journey with me. Thank you Sheila for everything you are!
I have finally begun to slow down my life. Taking care to notice the wonders and beauty around me. There is art everywhere I look. Butterflies in the sand? These colorful little shells are strewn about the beach by the thousands.
Until next time, I'll leave you with this Hitchcock like image we took the other day.
Thanks for reading!

It was great to see you in Spokane over the holidays! I thought of you today as it has been snowing non-stop since early this morning. It's beautiful, but c-c-cold. Hope you're having fun--now get back to work! :-)
ReplyDeleteWalking on the beach every day. Jealous us.
ReplyDeleteJust reread some of the last two entries. Really like the photo of ocean and clouds balancing on the left. Nice shot.
