And We're Off Again!

After a very, very, very, very long stay at the home base in Deer Park this year (since December). It's finally time to head back out on the road. And we are soooooo ready : )

I'll use this post to catch up on a few events over the summer and warm up my typing fingers to stay on top of our travels as we head toward our next destination of Maine.

So what's new you ask?
Well...some new family members, new pet, new pad, new fifth wheel and new scooter!

An exciting change in Sheila's life came last spring, when she found her biological father (Jim). Along with Jim, came two new brothers as well : ) Sheila has really enjoyed discovering the new relationships, and has spent quite a bit of time catching up on all the years. All good people too : )

One additional member joined our traveling family. Rufus. What an awesome dog! We adopted him from a local shelter and prayed he would be a good travel dog. So far he's been the best companion we could have hoped for!

We upgraded the home after attending the Spokane RV Show last January. What used to be the 36' ElkRidge Fifth Wheel is now a 40' Road Warrior Toy Hauler. What's the big change you ask? We gained a bit of square footage, the ability to dry camp with a generator and 60 gallons of on-board fuel, and a roomier, brighter interior with larger windows. the biggest change however is the new 10' "garage" in back. We no longer need to "hang" the scooter off a rack on the back bumper. We now strap the whole works in the garage along with a full tool chest, computer desk, picnic table and bunk beds. The new setup is perfect!

Of course, with the new garage space allowing for hauling heavier cargo...the small 250 SYM scooter was no longer the answer for longer rides. You guessed it. We upgraded that too. We settled on a new BMW 650GT, that's more motorcycle than scooter. With a top end of 120 MPH and 0-60 in 6.5 seconds, the new ride handles both of us with plenty to spare.

We also spent quite a bit of time upgrading the new pad in Deer Park, with new concrete patio, stone walls, landscaping and a new shed. All the comforts of a home away from home : )

I'm so far behind on the blogging, I'm going to end this one right here and start with a fresh entry to catch up on the happenings over the last summer before we hit the road.

Until then (which will begin tomorrow), thanks for reading!

Love the photo above. This really captures our joy of traveling : )
